Specialist for protection and security – specifically trained for increasing requirements

In 2021, in view of ever-increasing requirements and demand, we will be offering targeted, in-depth training to protection and security specialists. Our subsidized training and continuing education programs for protection and security specialists are in high demand among men and women who are retiring from the military or who have at least two years of experience in the security industry. These professional groups can also complete the course in a shortened form, which will all be examined individually at the beginning. This training security service is also open for other people. Anyone who has finished school and has at least two years of work experience (in any profession) is also welcome to enroll in this training. This is a recognized training occupation according to the Vocational Training Act (BBiG).

Concrete situations that require specialists for protection and security

A specialist for protection and security must be able to protect people, values and buildings or factory premises from danger. This includes, for example, the security service of organizers of large demos or concerts as well as the chauffeur service for a large entrepreneur. You don’t have to be Superman to get a foothold in these fields, but a certain Superman gene unites all those who have dedicated themselves to the security industry. What may come across as a bit casual at this point is the result of hard training and in-depth education, because it’s not some inherited superpowers that security professionals have. We will go into more detail about the content of security training below. In the following, we first present a few selected purely theoretical yet realistic situations in which security professionals are absolutely necessary.

Berlin. Die Deutsche Bahn AG

Deutsche Bahn AG in Berlin wants to officially present the new Berlin Central Station. Both political VIPs and members of the press are invited. Everything is to take an orderly course, the safety of the guests is to be guaranteed. Among other things, the security service will ensure that everything runs smoothly. It checks people at the entrances and exits and prevents uninvited guests from disrupting the event. If someone should try to force their way in, the security mechanisms that have been internalized during training are put into action.

Wackersdorf. BMW plant celebrates anniversary of location

The Wackersdorf plant of the Bayerische Motorenwerke (BMW) in Wackersdorf is celebrating its 30th anniversary and wants to celebrate this together with the entire workforce and their families – on the plant premises. Three music groups have been organized, there will be guided tours of the plant for anyone interested, and a colorful program for children has also been prepared. Wherever a lot of people come and go, there is always potential for dangerous situations. It is the task of the security personnel in industrial plant protection to check and, if possible, eliminate these. This area is also of interest to our graduates of the training program for safety and security specialists.

Nuremberg. Personal security for a protection family from the German industry

Envy is a strong emotion and can take on criminal excesses in many people. A protection and security specialist can also take on the task of providing personal protection for a protective family from German industry, for example. In this context, customer and service orientation is of paramount importance. Protection and security techniques, situation assessment and management, unarmed self-defense as well as the safe handling of weapons, data protection, emergency and crisis management as well as, among other things, self-protection are vital in this activity and are trained most carefully at TACFIS.

Munich. Rammstein concert at the Olympiastadion

The band Rammstein performs at the sold-out Olympiastadion in Munich. Guests arrive at the Olympic site hours in advance. The band is not only extremely popular, they are also known for their spectacular fire shows. The company’s own security is responsible for the safety of the band, the guests and for ensuring that everything runs smoothly. This is also a job for which the IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) examination adequately prepares the security specialists.

Hamburg-Eppendorf, Schlemmer Markt Müller, Troplowitzstraße 

In the past few days, goods have repeatedly been stolen. The store manager assumes that the goods have been stolen and has called in a security specialist to track down potential thieves as inconspicuously as possible and to apprehend and detain them until the police arrive.

Cham (Upper Palatinate). WELTKONZERN AG is looking for a professional door service for the site

Even at a somewhat remote branch, the same security standards apply as everywhere else, even in a listed major corporation such as the exemplary Weltkonzern AG. For the Cham site in eastern Bavaria (Upper Palatinate), the company is looking for a reliable specialist for protection and security for gate duty at the entrances and exits of the plant. Duties include monitoring, controlling and regulating the movement of people, vehicles and goods. Lost property must be handled, weighing, telephone and pilot services must be performed, and the surrounding area must be monitored for events (alarm service). It is not only professional and social competence that count here, but also external appearance, since as a gate attendant you are the first person visitors come into contact with – the business card of the company in question, so to speak.

The demands on security personnel are constantly increasing and well-trained security specialists are in ever greater demand. In the training to become a specialist for protection and security, we prepare the participants for the challenges.

Training content for specialists for protection and security

The training is divided into different areas. In the following, we show the respective areas in detail.

Part A: Occupational profile-defining skills, knowledge and abilities (IHK examination)

First of all, the participants learn the legal basis for security services and find out for which security areas security services can be considered and get to know work organization, information and communication technology as well as quality assurance measures. Another area is communication and cooperation with teamwork and communication and customer-oriented communication. Protection and security are also covered, as are behavior and action in protection and security measures, security equipment and aids, investigation/reconnaissance/documentation, and the planning and operational organization of security services with topics such as market and customer orientation, risk management, operational quotation preparation, order processing and team design.

Part B: Integrative skills, knowledge and abilities (carrier examinations)

This covers vocational training, labor law and collective bargaining law, as well as the structure and organization of the training company, occupational health and safety, environmental protection, and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) examination of expertise §34a GewO, which is a prerequisite for the internship.

Part C: Practical skills, knowledge and abilities (carrier examinations)

In Part C, topics such as mission-related medical training, weapons expertise test §§7 and 28 WaffG, driving safety training, self-defense and the basics of personal protection are covered.

Prerequisites for participation in the training

Anyone wishing to complete training in the security service must be at least 21 years old. At least two years of professional experience (any kind of profession) or at least 2 years of professional experience in the security service or retiring soldier (SaZ 4 or longer), police officer, municipal enforcement (familiar with guard and security duties) are required. In addition, an entrance or psychological test must be passed. Mental and physical fitness are indispensable for this training, as well as a current police clearance certificate (without entry).

Course scope and duration

In total, the course includes 2100 teaching units and a 10-month internship, which is carried out full-time. This internship can be completed at renowned companies throughout Germany. The school-based part of the training lasts 13 months. For participants who are not from our region, we offer very affordable and nice accommodations. The course starts every month, self-payers can pay in installments if they wish.

Graduation and certificates – the reward for the effort

At the end of all efforts, there are written and practical exams and, if passed, certificates: Specialist for protection and security (IHK-approved), personal protection specialist and state-approved weapons expertise test according to §7 Weapons Act. Already during the course, participants obtain additional qualifications, such as: Telescopic baton training, handcuff training, unarmed self-defense, driving safety training, fire protection training and mission-oriented medical training (Combat Medic).

Good to know: the education voucher from the employment agency helps to shoulder certain costs

Anyone who wants to continue their education or retrain should be familiar with the education voucher from the Federal Employment Agency. Agentur für Arbeit or Jobcenter take over certain costs for training courses or and courses, after the exact benefits have been determined in advance. Unemployed and also employed people who are facing a necessary further education or retraining receive the support, because the education voucher is intended to help people to end their unemployment, to avoid imminent unemployment or simply to catch up on professional qualifications. The prerequisite for receiving this assistance is a personal counseling session at an appointment at the employment agency or job center. During this discussion, it will be determined whether a grant is possible and which grant would be most helpful for the respective further education or retraining. Please note: The education voucher is only valid for a limited period of time for approved educational institutions.
